Storytelling and Mindfulness

In this 45-minute to one-hour workshop, Margo introduces the concept and practice of mindfulness, using movement, music, storytelling, and art.

Children are encouraged to consider what mindfulness feels like in the body and in the mind. How might a practice of mindfulness relate to developing good friendships, caring for the environment, or learning how to concentrate? Neuro-science reveals the plasticity of the brain, suggesting that we can cultivate habits of mind, including self-awareness and awareness of others. This kind of awareness contributes to personal well-being, as well as a sense of belonging and responsibility to one's community.

By combining different activities in one session, Margo appeals to children's many learning styles, encouraging each child to find a connection to the potential and practice of mindfulness.
